HGTV personality Alison Victoria is opening up about the shocking reason she believes she was quietly pushed aside from one of the network’s popular renovation shows — and according to her, it may have happened because of a single word.
In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Victoria revealed she suspects she lost her spot on Battle on the Beach after accidentally saying the show had been “canceled” during an episode of her podcast.
The problem?
She now says she should have used the phrase “not renewed” instead.
“That word should not have been used,” Victoria admitted while reflecting on the controversy.
“I should’ve said ‘not renewed.’ That’s the language I should have used.”
Victoria explained that the comments happened casually during an episode of her podcast, where conversations are unscripted and unedited.
“There’s no editing. It’s just conversation,” she said. “I don’t have notes.”
But despite the seemingly minor mistake, Victoria now believes the wording may have damaged her relationship with the network behind the scenes.
The drama intensified after HGTV officially announced the return of Battle on the Beach for its fifth season — with a noticeably different lineup.
Ty Pennington will return as host, while new personalities Mika Kleinschmidt and Sarah Baeumler are joining the show.
Victoria and fellow former co-host Taniya Nayak were both left out.
According to Victoria, it was Nayak who first informed her that they would not be returning for the new season.
Her reaction?
“I expected that.”
Still, Victoria insists she’s staying busy despite the disappointment.
The HGTV star is currently involved in multiple television projects, including Sin City Rehab, Scariest House in America, and Ugliest House in America.
At the same time, she suggested there may have been another reason producers chose not to bring her back.
“Part of me hopes that maybe they didn’t ask me back because they knew I didn’t have time,” she said.
The revelation has sparked major conversation online, with fans debating whether one accidental word really could have influenced a network decision so dramatically.
Others pointed to the increasingly delicate relationship between television networks and podcast culture, where celebrities often speak far more casually and openly than they would in traditional interviews.
For Victoria, however, the experience appears to have become a painful lesson in how quickly one sentence can snowball into something much bigger in the entertainment industry.
And now, fans are left wondering whether the HGTV favorite will eventually return to the beach competition — or if one unscripted moment permanently closed that chapter.
