CBS Humiliation Spirals as Anchor Gets Kicked Out During Trump’s China Trip

What was already turning into a disastrous week for CBS News reportedly became even more humiliating after one of the network’s top anchors was allegedly thrown out of his makeshift broadcast setup during President Donald Trump’s high-stakes trip to China.

According to a bombshell report from Status, CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil was forced to abandon his hotel broadcast location in Taiwan after hotel management became furious over the network’s on-air discussion of China and Taiwan politics.

The incident reportedly unfolded while Trump was meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Dokoupil had already faced embarrassment before the summit even began after reportedly failing to secure a visa to broadcast from mainland China — forcing him to report from Taipei, more than 1,000 miles away from the actual negotiations.

But things allegedly got worse fast.

A source told Status that the hotel manager became “appalled” by the way Dokoupil discussed Taiwan-related tensions during the broadcast and subsequently barred CBS from continuing to use the hotel property as a studio.

The stunning setback reportedly forced Dokoupil and his crew to relocate operations to Taipei’s Liberty Square.

And during Thursday night’s broadcast, Dokoupil openly acknowledged the incident on-air.

“The threat of China is felt all over this island,” he said while describing growing fears surrounding Beijing’s claims over Taiwan.

He then revealed viewers had unknowingly witnessed CBS getting booted from its original setup.

“And even at our hotel where, after seeing our broadcast last night, the manager told us we can’t cover anything political on their property,” Dokoupil said.

The chaos marks yet another headache for CBS leadership under editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, whose tenure has become increasingly controversial.

Weiss — installed by Paramount Skydance CEO and Trump ally David Ellison — has faced mounting criticism over newsroom shakeups, editorial decisions, and declining ratings.

According to the report, Dokoupil’s broadcasts have struggled badly in the ratings, with one recent episode reportedly dropping to just 3.4 million viewers — numbers one television executive allegedly described as “disastrous.”

The backlash inside media circles appears to be intensifying as critics accuse CBS leadership of mismanaging one of America’s most iconic news divisions during one of the most politically volatile moments in years.

And now, after the visa fiasco, the hotel expulsion, and collapsing ratings…

the network’s China coverage has reportedly become a full-blown embarrassment inside television news circles.
