Tragedy as 11-Year-Old Child Actor Millena Brandão Dies After 13 Cardiac Arrests—Autopsy Pending
Brazil is mourning the heartbreaking loss of rising child star Millena Brandão, who passed away at just 11 years old after suffering 13 cardiac arrests over two days. Her devastated family and fans are demanding answers as an autopsy is underway to determine what caused her sudden and tragic death.
Brandão, known for her role in the Netflix series Sintonia and her recent soap opera debut in A Infância de Romeu e Julieta on SBT, first fell ill on April 24. She experienced headaches, leg pain, drowsiness, and loss of appetite—symptoms that sent her to multiple hospitals in São Paulo over the following days. Despite repeated visits, a firm diagnosis never came.

Initially misdiagnosed with dengue fever without proper testing, Millena’s condition deteriorated rapidly. After collapsing at home on April 28, she was rushed to Maria Antonieta Urgent Care Facility, where tests ruled out COVID-19 and influenza but showed signs of a urinary tract infection. The following morning, she was taken to Grajaú General Hospital, where she suffered her first cardiac arrest—and was never conscious again.
Doctors later identified a 5-centimeter mass in her brain through a CT scan. However, without a neurologist or neurosurgeon on staff, they were unable to determine whether the mass was a tumor, cyst, or blood clot. Millena’s mother, Thays Brandão, expressed frustration and sorrow over what she described as a failure in timely and accurate care.
“She had 13 arrests. Seven in one day. They gave her CPR, they shocked her,” Thays said. “But she never came back.”
As the autopsy proceeds, Brazil grieves not only the loss of a talented young actress but also a life cut far too short—amid questions that demand urgent answers.
