Mystery Surrounds Sudden Death of Bodybuilding Champion Gui Bull at Age 30
Shock and grief have swept Brazil’s fitness community following the sudden death of bodybuilding champion Guilherme Henrique—known affectionately as Gui Bull—at just 30 years old. His passing has left fans and fellow athletes reeling, with authorities ordering an autopsy to determine the cause.
Henrique was a celebrated athlete and academic, holding a PhD in Biochemistry and multiple titles in the Classic Physique and Classic Bodybuilding categories. Based in Maringá, in the state of Paraná, he was known for his discipline, determination, and vibrant energy that inspired many in the sports world. At the time of his death, he was also pursuing a degree in Nutrition at the University Center of Maringá.
News of his passing was confirmed on Monday, though no official cause has yet been announced. His death is currently under investigation, and the results of the autopsy may take several days or weeks to be released.

The Paraná Fisiculturismo Federation released a heartfelt statement following the news:
“Gui Bull was not just an athlete; he was a human being with a giant heart, who radiated energy and inspired everyone with his determination and sportsmanship. In this moment of pain and longing, we raise our thoughts and prayers to God, asking that He receive him in His arms and envelop him in His eternal light.”
Tributes quickly poured in on social media from friends, fans, and organizations. PortugalGMCOnline honored Henrique as “an example of discipline and overcoming in sports.” Dozens of followers left messages of sorrow and disbelief on his final Instagram post, with one commenter writing: “Go with God, Gui… We love you,” and another adding: “Wow, so young! My sincere condolences to the family!”
Henrique’s academic accomplishments were as impressive as his athletic ones. He held a degree in Biology from the State University of Paraná and both a master’s and doctorate in Biochemistry from the State University of Maringá.
His burial was scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, in the Municipal Cemetery of Paranavaí, his family’s hometown.
The tragedy adds to a worrying pattern of sudden deaths in the bodybuilding world. In recent months, several prominent figures in the sport have died unexpectedly, sparking concern and debate about health risks in high-performance bodybuilding.

In April, German Netflix actor and bodybuilder Vittorio Pirbazari died after collapsing on a treadmill. Just weeks earlier, 20-year-old Jodi Vance passed away due to cardiac arrest linked to severe dehydration while attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio.
Though no direct connection has been made between these cases, the pattern has reignited discussion around the physical demands of bodybuilding and the potential long-term health implications—even for athletes at the peak of their fitness.
Guilherme Henrique stood out not only for his sculpted physique and competition wins but also for his intellect and humility. A rare blend of scientist and athlete, he used his knowledge to educate others, inspire the next generation of fitness enthusiasts, and promote a more holistic view of health and wellness.
His loss leaves a void not only in Brazilian sports but in the hearts of all who admired his work ethic, brilliance, and unwavering dedication.
As fans await the autopsy results, one thing remains certain: Gui Bull’s legacy will live on—not just through trophies and titles, but through the countless lives he touched along the way.
