Jake and Logan Paul Address U.S. Troops at Pentagon After Hegseth Invitation

The Pentagon welcomed an unusual pair of guests last week.

Jake and Logan Paul.

The brothers built their fame through YouTube, boxing, professional wrestling and reality television.

Neither has served in the military.

Yet on Thursday, the two were given a Pentagon tour, met Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and delivered remarks to uniformed service members and civilian personnel.

The Defense Department later released video of the visit with a simple message:

“Last Thursday, we welcomed Logan and Jake Paul to the Pentagon to meet with our warriors.”

The footage showed the brothers posing around the building, speaking with Hegseth and standing behind a Pentagon podium to address those gathered.

Logan Paul called the experience a “pleasure and privilege.”

A press conference taking place with two speakers at a podium, in front of an audience comprised of military personnel and civilians, with an American flag in the background and bright studio lighting.
The two brothers, who have zero military experience, were asked to deliver a speech to troops at the Pentagon.

He praised the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, telling the audience he could think of few commitments greater than being willing to “live, die, and fight” for one’s country.

Jake Paul offered a similarly motivational message.

“Each one of you matter,” he told those in attendance.

He urged them to be proud of their service and called the United States “the greatest country in the world.”

The visit immediately generated attention because of who was delivering the message.

Jake and Logan Paul are two of the most successful internet celebrities of their generation.

But neither has a military background.

Jake, 29, became famous through Vine, YouTube and Disney Channel before reinventing himself as a professional boxer.

Logan, 31, followed a similar path into podcasting, boxing and professional wrestling.

The brothers now also appear together in the reality series Paul American.

So what exactly brought them to the Pentagon?

The department has offered only a broad explanation.

Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Joel Valdez said the department was “proud” to host the brothers, adding that they toured the building, visited the Pentagon’s 9/11 memorial, thanked service members and briefly met Hegseth.

“The Department is grateful for their visit and continued support of our military,” Valdez said.

A Pentagon official also told Task & Purpose that Jake and Logan paid for their own transportation to the installation.

The department did not publicly identify a specific military training or policy purpose for having them address personnel.

That has made the visit part of a broader discussion about the Pentagon’s increasing use of celebrities and online personalities.

Under Hegseth, the department has leaned heavily into public messaging built around what he calls a renewed “warrior ethos.”

The strategy includes fitness, combat readiness, military imagery and outreach to high-profile figures with large younger audiences.

The influencers were shown all around the Pentagon.

The Paul brothers fit that communication model almost perfectly.

Together, they command enormous audiences across social media, podcasts, boxing and entertainment.

Their involvement also reaches beyond entertainment.

Both have developed ties to Donald Trump and figures in his political orbit.

Jake Paul appeared at a Trump event in Kentucky earlier this year, where the president publicly praised him and even suggested he could someday run for office.

Trump told Jake he would have his “complete and total endorsement” if he entered politics.

Logan Paul, meanwhile, interviewed Trump on his Impaulsive podcast during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Those associations do not mean their Pentagon appearance was a political event.

The department described it as an opportunity to meet and thank service members.

But their connections inevitably added another layer of attention.

The brothers also bring significant controversy with them.

Jake previously settled charges with the Securities and Exchange Commission involving promotion of cryptocurrency without properly disclosing compensation.

Logan drew worldwide criticism in 2017 after posting video showing the body of a suicide victim in Japan.

Both have since built substantial careers beyond those episodes.

Logan has become a prominent WWE performer, while Jake turned professional boxing into a lucrative business.

Hegseth got the Paul brothers a tour of the Pentagon.

Their combat-sports backgrounds may also help explain their appeal to a Pentagon leadership increasingly emphasizing physical fitness and what Hegseth describes as a warrior culture.

Still, boxing professionally and serving in the armed forces are obviously very different experiences.

That distinction is what made the sight of the brothers addressing troops notable.

The visit also came during an unusually contentious period for Hegseth.

Just days earlier, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie introduced articles of impeachment accusing the defense secretary of participating in unauthorized military action against Iran.

The effort was not expected to remove Hegseth, but it underscored the political pressure surrounding the Pentagon as the Iran conflict continues.

Separately, members of both parties recently criticized Pentagon officials after a classified briefing on U.S. defense strategy, with several senators saying they did not receive satisfactory answers on Iran, munitions and other major issues.

Against that serious backdrop, the image of two internet celebrities touring the Pentagon and giving motivational speeches naturally stood out.

Supporters may see the visit as modern outreach.

Social-media stars can reach audiences traditional government messaging often cannot, particularly younger Americans.

Critics may question whether celebrity visits are the best use of Pentagon attention at a moment of war and intense congressional scrutiny.

The Defense Department itself has not framed the event as anything more complicated than an opportunity to thank troops.

And the Paul brothers appeared enthusiastic about the experience.

But the visual was undeniably unusual.

Logan Paul made his debut as a professional wrestler for WWE in 2022.

A Pentagon podium.

Rows of service members listening.

And a defense secretary increasingly willing to mix military messaging with celebrity culture.

For Jake and Logan Paul, it was another extraordinary stop in careers already built on spectacle.

For the Pentagon, it was another sign that its public image strategy under Pete Hegseth looks very different from the one that came before.
