Trump Health Official Tied to Fraternity Death Shocking New Findings Revealed

William Boothby, a key political appointee within the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services, has found himself embroiled in a wrongful death lawsuit tied to the tragic death of a University of New Hampshire student.

The lawsuit, filed by Robin Lirosi, mother of the deceased student Vincenzo “Vinny” Lirosi, alleges that Boothby physically assaulted her son during a violent confrontation at a fraternity party in 2021.

Boothby, who oversees nearly 300 political appointees at the HHS, is accused of being involved in a brawl that occurred after a night of heavy drinking. Reports indicate that the altercation involved Boothby and several other fraternity members, escalating from a conflict between Lirosi and another fraternity brother.

According to the lawsuit, the altercation turned violent when Boothby allegedly punched Lirosi in the head, which left him dazed and confused. This incident unfolded in the Sigma Chi fraternity house, where the lawsuit contends other fraternity members joined the fight against Lirosi.

This tragic incident left Lirosi stumbling away from the fraternity after the brawl. Over a day later, his body was found in a body of water in the vicinity, prompting an investigation that ruled his death as accidental, attributing it to drowning and acute intoxication with a blood alcohol content of .215.

No criminal charges have been filed against Boothby or the fraternity members involved, creating a backdrop of frustration for Lirosi’s family.

The suit characterizes Boothby’s actions as reckless, suggesting that his initial push against Lirosi instigated the violent confrontation that led to the young man’s untimely demise. The argument centers around whether appropriate measures were taken to ensure Lirosi’s safety while he was at the fraternity house.

Documents from the case reveal that Lirosi reportedly consumed 17 alcoholic beverages over a short period at a local bar, which adds complexity to the narrative surrounding the incident. Lirosi’s mother holds the fraternity responsible, alleging that no one intervened to protect her son during the chaotic scene.

In response to the allegations, Boothby has stated that Lirosi had arrived at the fraternity uninvited and asserted that he acted out of necessity when he pushed Lirosi in an effort to restore order.

Boothby’s murky past has also come to light, as reports indicate that he started in the HHS as deputy White House liaison shortly after President Trump was inaugurated in 2025. His subsequent promotion to White House liaison came in July 2025.

The legal battle surrounding Lirosi’s death has remained a point of interest, as the lawsuit was settled out of court, with Boothby being removed as a defendant shortly after an agreement was reached in February.

Despite the settlement, the disclosure of Boothby’s alleged involvement has raised eyebrows, particularly since he has continued to manage significant political responsibilities under the current administration.

While legal representatives for Boothby and the Sigma Chi chapter have not made public comments regarding the case, the atmosphere surrounding the incident has stirred attention from both local media and law enforcement.

Durham Police Chief Jack Dalton expressed condolences to the Lirosi family following the incident, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers have been with the Lirosi family.”

The case illustrates a troubling intersection of youth culture, accountability, and the ramifications of excessive drinking, especially in a fraternity setting. As this story continues to unfold, it raises important questions about the responsibility of institutions and individuals when it comes to safety in these environments.

Boothby’s public profile now sits at a crossroads, as he balances his role within the health department while managing the implications of a lawsuit linked to a young man’s tragic death.

As discussions about fraternity conduct and accountability grow in the wake of this case, the Lirosi family’s search for justice remains a stark reminder of the consequences tied to unchecked behaviors in social contexts.
