Federal prosecutors have delivered a strong rebuttal against claims made by Brian Cole, who is accused of being involved in a pipe bombing incident connected to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. In a recent court filing, the Department of Justice (DOJ) criticized Cole’s attempts to implicate former Capitol Police officer Shauni Kerkhoff, labeling his allegations as unfounded.

The DOJ’s opposition was filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., just days ago, challenging an effort from Cole to issue subpoenas for Kerkhoff, whom conspiracy theorists have wrongly identified as the actual bomber.

Prominent among those pushing this conspiracy narrative has been Ed Martin, a well-known “Stop the Steal” organizer and former pardon attorney for the DOJ.
