Billionaires Controversial Affiliation with Infamous Nazi Psychopath Sparks Outrage and Shock

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has sparked controversy after using his social media platform X to advocate for the release of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd. Chauvin is currently serving a 22-year sentence for the 2020 killing, which ignited mass protests across the United States and reignited debates around police brutality and systemic racism.

In a post on Thursday evening, Musk not only called for Chauvin’s release but also endorsed a similar statement made by Nick Land, a contentious British philosopher known for his involvement with far-right ideologies and his role in a movement dubbed the “Dark Enlightenment.” This philosophy is often criticized for promoting anti-democratic views and positing a supposed need for a “superior” race of highly intelligent elites to diverge from the rest of humanity.

Jim Stewartson, a writer and anti-disinformation activist, took to X to raise alarms over Musk’s associations. In a post to his over 155,000 followers, he remarked on Musk’s growing openness about his ties to Land, labeling him as the creator of “hyper-racism,” a concept suggesting that elite groups should detach themselves to form a new pure race in space. Stewartson sarcastically questioned, “Golly, why would Nazi psychopath Nick Land want to free Derek Chauvin?”

Land’s controversial past includes leading an academic group at Warwick University, where he mixed philosophy with elements of cyberpunk, rave culture, and occultism. He has been dubbed the “father of accelerationism,” a theory proposing that hyper-intelligent capitalism will ultimately surpass humanity. More troubling, researchers in the U.S. have started linking Land’s theories to emerging strains of white nationalist terrorism.

Fred Lambert, the editor-in-chief of Electrek, commented on Musk’s interactions with Land and other figures like Curtis Yarvin, who are reputed for their anti-democratic stance. Lambert expressed concern, stating, “‘Hyper-racism’ does sound like something Elon Musk would get into. Jokes aside, it [is] super worrying to see Musk following and interacting with guys like Land and Yarvin. These people are openly anti-democracy.”

Musk’s controversial call marks another instance of his blending of business and provocative political statements, something he has become known for in recent years. His connections and endorsements of figures associated with far-right philosophies are raising eyebrows and prompting backlash from many in the public and across social media platforms.

As the discourse surrounding police reform and racial justice continues, Musk’s recent comments may reignite debates on the responsibilities wealthy and influential figures hold in shaping societal attitudes and beliefs. With the spotlight on technology moguls like Musk, their actions resonate beyond the digital realm, impacting public opinion and societal movements.
