Florida Republican Anna Paulina Luna is getting roasted online after suggesting that people have been floating her name as a possible future Speaker of the House.

And critics wasted absolutely no time piling on.

The controversy erupted after Luna posted a message on X claiming she was “honored” that supporters supposedly viewed her as a potential replacement for current House Speaker Mike Johnson.

“Truly, it is wonderful and I am flattered to have that type of support and trust,” Luna wrote.

But what may have been intended as a humble response instantly backfired online, with political commentators and critics accusing the MAGA congresswoman of publicly promoting herself for higher leadership.

Luna insisted she was not actually planning to run for Speaker and claimed she had never discussed the idea with House members.

Still, many observers weren’t buying it.

Critics argued the post appeared less like an attempt to shut down rumors and more like an effort to subtly introduce herself into leadership conversations while boosting her national profile inside MAGA circles.

The backlash quickly turned brutal.

Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, sarcastically joked that “people all over America are devastated” by Luna supposedly rejecting the Speaker role.

Journalist Stephen Rhymer mocked the idea entirely, claiming Americans were simply “laughing” at the situation.

Other commentators accused Luna of trying to appear far more influential within Republican leadership than she actually is.

One political commentator and Iraq War veteran wrote that the post “had nothing to do with dispelling rumors” and instead looked like an attempt to signal interest in leadership power.

The reaction highlights the increasingly chaotic internal dynamics inside the Republican Party as ambitious MAGA figures continue positioning themselves for influence in a post-Trump future.

Luna, a staunch Trump ally and one of the most outspoken members of the MAGA wing in Congress, has rapidly built a strong online following through aggressive culture-war battles and confrontational media appearances.

Supporters see her as part of a younger generation of conservatives reshaping the Republican Party.

Critics, however, argue the growing obsession with personal branding and viral attention is turning politics into performance rather than governance.

The timing also fueled attention because Speaker Mike Johnson already faces ongoing pressure from multiple factions within the Republican conference, where leadership struggles and internal divisions continue simmering beneath the surface.

While no serious movement currently exists to replace Johnson with Luna, the mere suggestion was enough to ignite another viral internet spectacle.

And once again, a single social media post from a MAGA lawmaker managed to trigger a political pile-on seen by millions online.
