The mystery surrounding the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has taken another dramatic turn — this time leading investigators back to a well-known restaurant in Tucson, Arizona.
According to reports, FBI agents recently questioned employees at a Mexican restaurant where Nancy Guthrie had filmed a segment with her daughter, NBC’s “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, only months before she vanished.
The visit was originally meant to be something entirely different: a nostalgic tour of Tucson, the city where Savannah grew up. During the television segment, mother and daughter revisited places that held special memories, including the beloved restaurant where the Guthrie family had dined for years.
But now that same location is being re-examined by federal investigators searching for any clue that could explain Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Agents Looking for “Anything Suspicious”
Investigative reporter Brian Entin reported that federal agents spoke with restaurant workers and asked a series of specific questions.
Investigators reportedly wanted to know whether employees remembered seeing anyone who appeared suspicious or out of place during the filming of the “Today” show segment.
Workers were also asked if anyone nearby had been taking photographs, lingering around the filming area, or behaving in an unusual or unsettling manner.
According to Entin, agents specifically asked about people who might have appeared overly interested in the Guthries or who displayed strange behavior while the cameras were rolling.
At this stage, it is unclear whether the employees were able to provide investigators with any useful leads.
Still, the fact that federal agents returned to the restaurant suggests investigators are carefully retracing the grandmother’s movements before her disappearance.
The Historic Restaurant With a Personal Connection
Although reporters initially avoided naming the restaurant, many observers quickly identified it as El Charro Café, one of Tucson’s most historic and beloved dining spots.
The restaurant itself had proudly shared footage of the Guthries filming their segment there months earlier, celebrating the family’s longtime connection to the establishment.
Chef Carlotta Flores, whose family operates the restaurant, described Nancy Guthrie in glowing terms when the segment resurfaced following her disappearance.
“She’s exactly like your grandmother,” Flores said.
According to the chef, Nancy Guthrie was warm, humble, and deeply proud of her family.

Despite weeks of investigation, authorities have yet to identify the masked suspect.
No arrests have been made.
And perhaps most disturbing of all, investigators still do not know where Nancy Guthrie is.
A Warning From the Sheriff
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is overseeing the investigation, recently revealed that authorities believe Nancy Guthrie may have been specifically targeted.
However, he also cautioned that investigators cannot yet say for certain why.
“We believe we know why he did this,” Nanos said in an interview.
But the sheriff also issued a stark warning to the public: the suspect could potentially strike again.
“It would be silly to tell people you’re safe,” Nanos said. “Keep your wits about you.”
