Donald ‘Zero Wins’ Trump: Analyst Says President Is Running Out of Steam

After a week marked by humiliations both at home and abroad, President Donald Trump is facing a torrent of criticism about his leadership, health, and political future.

David Rothkopf, a veteran political analyst who served in the Clinton administration, delivered one of the harshest assessments yet on The Daily Beast podcast, telling host Joanna Coles that Trump’s presidency has hit rock bottom.

“Donald Trump right now has precisely zero wins since he has become president again,” Rothkopf said. “You could point to the Big Beautiful Bill, but the public’s reaction has been terrible. It’s hugely unpopular.”

Concern over Trump’s health persisted on Thursday, after he appeared with his face seeming to sag on one side.

A Brutal Week

The president’s troubles have piled up quickly. He was loudly booed at a Yankees game on Thursday, appeared visibly unwell with what looked like facial sagging at a 9/11 memorial event, and stumbled through rambling remarks about Russia’s latest escalation in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, his close ally Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated last week in Utah—an event that should have united Trump’s base but instead highlighted his own meandering and tone-deaf response. Asked how he was coping, Trump bizarrely pivoted to bragging about his newly refurbished White House ballroom.

“Is anybody home?” Rothkopf asked in disbelief. “What’s going on between those ears? It’s like somebody with dementia searching for the right phrase.”

Trump’s meeting with Putin was another failure to add to the growing collection.

Crumbling on the World Stage

Internationally, Trump’s standing is no better. His much-hyped Alaska summit with Vladimir Putin produced no progress on Ukraine, while the Gaza crisis continues to spiral out of control. A bleak jobs report added more weight to an already heavy week.

“Other world leaders don’t trust us,” Rothkopf said. “They deal with Trump and Rubio like you’d humor an older relative who’s losing it. They’re planning to go their own way, becoming less dependent on the U.S. and more dependent on each other.”

This breakdown in American leadership, Rothkopf warned, risks leaving a dangerous vacuum in global power dynamics. “With people like Putin, Netanyahu, and Xi Jinping testing the limits of what they can do, it’s super dangerous to have a void,” he said.

A Presidency on the Brink

Rothkopf believes Trump’s mounting failures—foreign policy missteps, domestic discontent, health concerns, and the Epstein scandal that continues to shadow him—are pushing him toward collapse.

“I just think he’s losing it,” Rothkopf concluded. “He cannot afford many more weeks like this. His energy is gone.”

For a president who once thrived on projecting strength and dominance, the label “Zero Wins” may prove the most devastating blow yet.
