Democrats in Congress have published a message allegedly signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and sent to Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday.

Attorneys for Epstein’s estate submitted documents to the House Oversight Committee after being subpoenaed last month. Democratic members of the committee then posted a copy of the purported letter on X on Monday.

The White House stated that the letter’s signature is not Trump’s. After The Wall Street Journal reported details of the alleged message in July, Trump called it a “fake thing” and denied writing it.

“These are not my words, nor the way I speak. Also, I don’t draw,” he said at the time.

“President Trump did not draw this picture and did not sign it,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. “The president’s legal team will continue to pursue litigation aggressively.”

The signed message reads: “Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Last month, the committee issued a subpoena for Epstein’s estate executors to provide a range of documents, including a birthday book that allegedly contained the Trump note.

Trump has since filed a lawsuit against journalists, the publisher, and Wall Street Journal executives — including News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch — after the paper ran the story. On X, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich posted several images of Trump’s authentic signature.

“It’s time @newscorp opened that checkbook, that’s not his signature. DEFAMATION!” Budowich wrote.

The Wall Street Journal reported in July that Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell created the birthday book for him in 2003. It contained entries from various acquaintances, including a note purportedly from Trump, who was at that time considered a friend.

Trump and Epstein had been friends for years, but the president has said their relationship soured in the early 2000s after Epstein allegedly poached staff from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Epstein was first criminally charged in Florida in 2006 with felony prostitution. He died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial.
