🧵 Oklahoma’s Anti-Porn Crusader Just Got Caught With Nude Women on His Office TV. You Can’t Make This Up.

For years, Ryan Walters has built his political brand on being the moral watchdog of Oklahoma schools—banning books, pushing religion into classrooms, and railing against so-called “porn in schools.” But this week, the crusader got caught with his own pants metaphorically down. During a private education board meeting, Walters’ office television was seen broadcasting images of nude women—and now, he’s scrambling for excuses while blaming everyone but himself.

Christian Nationalist or Closet Viewer?

Ryan Walters, Oklahoma’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, has never shied away from controversy. A staunch Christian Nationalist, he’s tried to force religion into public schools, promote Trump Bibles, and rewrite social studies standards with heavy-handed pro-Christian mythology. He’s also loudly pushed for “porn-free schools,” using fear-mongering to rally his base.

But on July 25, the hypocrisy finally caught up with him.

During a closed-door session of the Oklahoma State Board of Education—held in Walters’ own office—two board members, Becky Carson and Ryan Deatherage, noticed something deeply inappropriate on the superintendent’s TV. It appeared to be a screen mirroring from Walters’ personal laptop, and what was displayed wasn’t education policy or budget spreadsheets.

It was nudity.

Carson, a retired teacher appointed by GOP Governor Kevin Stitt, described the moment in chilling detail: “I said, ‘What is on your TV? What am I watching?’” She noted that at first, she tried to rationalize the image. Maybe it was a bodysuit. Maybe it was something medical. But then came the unmistakable realization: “Those are her nipples… That is pubic hair.”

Deatherage backed her account, adding that multiple nude women were shown, possibly in an old video involving a chiropractic table. Online, speculation swirled about what the video actually was—some suggesting vintage erotica, others pointing to hazing-style footage.

Whatever it was, it had no place in the office of the state’s top education official.

No Apology, Just Deflection

When confronted, Walters reportedly looked stunned and struggled to turn off the screen. According to Carson, he initially acted confused—“What? What is this?”—but then fumbled to shut it down. No explanation. No apology. Just silence.

That silence has only grown louder.

In the aftermath, Walters and his communications director didn’t deny the incident. Instead, they launched a Trump-style attack on the media, calling the report “a junk tabloid lie” and accusing the board members of having a political agenda.

But here’s the problem: these weren’t rogue Democrats looking to sabotage him. Carson and Deatherage were appointed by Republican Governor Kevin Stitt—no liberal darling himself—and were eyewitnesses to the incident.

If this were a teacher who accidentally showed nudity to students, you can bet Ryan Walters would be demanding their termination. So why is he exempt from the standards he claims to uphold?

A Pattern of Hypocrisy

This isn’t even Walters’ first porn-related scandal.

In 2023, while pushing for the removal of “sexually explicit” books from schools, Walters emailed lawmakers graphic, uncensored pornographic images—without any explanation of where they came from or how they were supposedly linked to schools. He never proved that any of the content was actually in Oklahoma classrooms.

He’s been weaponizing “porn panic” for political points, all while apparently engaging in questionable viewing habits at work.

To make matters worse, Oklahoma recently passed a law requiring photo ID to access adult content online—meaning Walters, if he was indeed watching porn, had to log in or bypass those restrictions, either with a VPN or a pre-downloaded video. That’s not an accidental click. That’s a process.

The Fallout

An investigation has been launched by the Oklahoma Office of Management & Enterprise Services. Whether anything comes of it remains to be seen. After all, Walters likely cleared his browser history the second the meeting ended.

Still, the damage is done.

This isn’t about a man’s private interests. It’s about a public official abusing power, dodging accountability, and using “morality” as a political cudgel while failing to uphold it himself.

And maybe, just maybe, this will be the crack in the armor that finally exposes the entire facade of the GOP’s performative moralism.

Because it’s never about protecting kids. It’s always about control.

And in Ryan Walters’ case—it’s now also about what was on his TV.
