Paris, France — Fans packed into Stade de France on June 19 expecting a powerful performance from Beyoncé. What they didn’t expect? Miley Cyrus walking on stage to thunderous applause for a surprise performance of their Grammy-winning hit “II Most Wanted.”

The surprise unfolded during Beyoncé’s first Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit show in Paris — a city known for fashion, but now also, apparently, for unforgettable musical duets.

“Paris, France, I have to say I’m very grateful to be on this stage,” Beyoncé told the roaring crowd. “We have a very special show for y’all.”

Special was an understatement.

Dressed in gold ensembles that shimmered under stadium lights, Beyoncé and Cyrus embraced, kissed cheeks, and then launched into a duet that nearly blew the roof off the venue. It was their first live performance of “II Most Wanted” — a track that won them the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

This Paris performance marked the kickoff of Beyoncé’s European leg of the Cowboy Carter tour, which originally debuted at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28. The tour spans nine cities and blends country, soul, pop, and cultural commentary in a genre-bending celebration of Black southern identity and power.

The timing of the concert — held on Juneteenth — gave it even deeper resonance. The date commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans and has become a symbolic celebration of freedom and cultural pride.

The Beyoncé-Cyrus duet felt like a statement — of unity, evolution, and feminine artistry at its peak.

Both performers have journeyed far from their roots: Beyoncé from her Destiny’s Child pop stardom to country innovator; Cyrus from Hannah Montana to respected vocalist with genre range. And now, standing hand-in-hand, they’re creating new chapters together.
