A couple with a remarkable 37-year age gap has recently set the internet abuzz with their announcement that they are expecting their first child together via surrogate. The news comes from 63-year-old Cheryl McCain, a grandmother of 18, and her 26-year-old husband, Quran, who reside in Georgia. They shared a photo of what they claimed was a positive pregnancy test, though many noted it looked more like a Covid test, as well as an image of an ultrasound scan.

The couple initially embarked on their surrogacy journey in 2022 but faced several hurdles along the way. They had to halt their plans in May of the following year when their surrogate breached her contract by engaging in unprotected sex with her partner. Despite the setback, Cheryl and Quran persisted, though three subsequent surrogates were unsuccessful. Now, the couple is celebrating their success with a fourth surrogate, a development that has stirred a mix of reactions on social media.

In a detailed post about their journey, Cheryl expressed her joy at the prospect of starting a family with Quran, describing the moment they found out about the pregnancy as “an amazing feeling.” She stated, “We get to start our own family. I am the happiest now than I have ever been before. It will make our family so much happier as we will love the baby unconditionally.”

Quran shared his own emotional reaction, stating, “I cried with tears of joy when I found out. This will be my very first child. I have never felt love like this apart from the time I got married to Cheryl.” He added, “Baby girl or baby boy it doesn’t matter. I am having a baby and we are starting our life together. Even though Cheryl won’t be the biological mother, blood doesn’t make you family and she will be the best mom.”

The announcement has not been without its critics, with many online expressing skepticism about the logistics and authenticity of the pregnancy. He comforted Cheryl during a difficult moment, and the two began meeting regularly to create content together.

Their friendship soon blossomed into a romantic relationship. Quran confessed his feelings for Cheryl in April 2021, and they began dating. Despite their significant age difference, the couple insists it has never been an issue for them. However, Cheryl’s children were not as accepting.

“I have seven kids but I only see one of them as the others do not support our relationship. It hurts me, it hurts me a lot,” Cheryl revealed. “They were my whole life and all of a sudden I wanted to be married to someone I had fallen in love with and they didn’t support that. I have 18 grandchildren and I only see three of them.”

Despite the familial estrangement, Cheryl and Quran moved forward with their relationship. Quran proposed to Cheryl on July 31, 2021, and they married in a small ceremony the following September, attended only by two friends. Reflecting on their wedding day, Cheryl said, “We didn’t invite anyone to the wedding as nobody was there for us. It was me, him and our two friends. We left everyone out and we were happy.” Quran added, “It made the day very special for us.”

The couple acknowledges the negative comments they receive but remain unfazed. “We get a lot of negative comments and we don’t care about them. We didn’t make it this far caring about what people think about us,” Quran said. To maintain their happiness, they try to stay off the internet and avoid negativity.

As they look forward to welcoming their baby, Cheryl and Quran continue to focus on their love and the new life they are about to bring into the world. Their journey has been filled with challenges, but they remain steadfast in their commitment to each other and their growing family.
