Tragedy Strikes Slash’s Family: Stepdaughter Lucy-Bleu Knight Passes Away

Legendary guitarist Slash has been struck by tragedy with the passing of his stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight. The Guns N’ Roses icon, aged 58, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, announcing the loss in a succinct yet poignant statement.

The message read: “Lucy-Bleu Knight (December 6, 1998), beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, stepsister of London and Cash Hudson, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA on July 19, 2024.

“Lucy-Bleu was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.”

The announcement prompted an outpouring of condolences and tributes from celebrity friends and fans alike. Violet Grohl, daughter of Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl, expressed her sorrow, saying, “My heart hurts for you guys. All the love to your family right now.”

Flea, the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, commented: “Oh man, god bless.” Meanwhile, Susan Holmes McKagan, wife of Slash’s Guns N’ Roses bandmate Duff McKagan, shared: “Words cannot express our deepest sympathy and condolences. Love you all so much.”

Lucy-Bleu Knight was not only recognized for her familial ties but also for her own accomplishments. She had garnered a following of over 35,000 on Instagram and was involved with Electric Lady Management, the talent division of the storied recording studio.

Slash’s connection to Lucy-Bleu began through her mother, Meegan Hodges. The rocker and Hodges first dated during the late 1980s, amidst the peak of Guns N’ Roses’ fame. However, their romantic relationship was rekindled in 2015, three years before Slash finalized his divorce from ex-wife Perla Ferrar.

In the wake of Lucy-Bleu’s passing, Slash announced the cancellation of four dates on his solo S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Tour, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” The tour is scheduled to resume in Toronto on July 28, 2024, at the Budweiser Stage. Slash extended his apologies to fans for any inconvenience caused by the cancellations.

Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, is celebrated as one of rock music’s most iconic figures, known for his emotive guitar solos and signature top hat. He parted ways with Guns N’ Roses in the early 1990s, largely due to disagreements with lead singer Axl Rose, including Rose’s chronic lateness at performances.

Post-Guns, Slash co-founded Velvet Revolver in the early 2000s with former bandmates Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan, alongside Dave Kushner from Wasted Youth and the late Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver released two albums before disbanding following Weiland’s death from an accidental drug overdose in 2015.

Over the years, Slash has collaborated with numerous artists and released multiple records. His partnership with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge fame resulted in four well-received albums. Slash’s latest solo effort, “Orgy of the Damned,” is a tribute to blues classics and features guest appearances from Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes and Brian Johnson of AC/DC.

Despite past conflicts, Slash has since reconciled with his Guns N’ Roses bandmates, and the group has resumed performing together. Their reunion has proven to be immensely successful, with the band continuing to be one of the highest-grossing acts in the live music circuit.

The news of Lucy-Bleu Knight’s death has deeply affected those who knew her and the broader music community. As her family and loved ones navigate this period of mourning, they have requested privacy and minimal speculation on social media to allow them to grieve in peace.

This tragic event has cast a shadow over what has otherwise been a remarkable career for Slash, a musician whose influence and contributions to rock music are undeniable. His legacy continues to grow, even as he faces personal heartache. The support from the music community underscores the profound impact both he and Lucy-Bleu have had on those around them.
